The Armacost Library at the University of Redlands seeks a collaborative Visiting Assistant Librarian to provide reference and research consultation (including some evening and weekend hours), teach course-integrated library research and information literacy skills, support scholarly communication initiatives, and contribute to collection development in subject areas to be determined on experience, interest, and departmental needs. Applications received by June 10, 2022 are assured consideration. The position starts July 1, 2022.
The successful candidate will
- Collaborate with librarians, faculty, and staff to develop inclusive practices for all library services and collections.
- Provide liaison, outreach, and support to assigned academic departments to ensure collections and services meet faculty and student needs.
- Initiate and conduct course-related and general information literacy instruction and develop content, including course guides, subject guides, and other instructional and outreach materials in the assigned areas.
- Provide the entire range of in-person and online reference services including research consultations for assigned departments.
- Engage and participate in ongoing assessment of student learning, library collections and services.
- Engage in professional service and scholarly contributions.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
- Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity as a colleague and educator
- Demonstrated understanding of learning outcomes and best practices in pedagogy for college students
- Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and development
- Ability to work collegially and communicate effectively with colleagues, faculty, and students
