The Center for Creative Photography seeks an experienced, collaborative, and visionary Senior Archivist to lead the team responsible for managing the premier photographic research archive in North America. The position manages 279 archives to date consisting of approximately nine million objects, oversees library and study center activities, manages the oral history project in concert with the curatorial department, and the digital imaging unit. The Senior Archivist is responsible for developing a vision in alignment with the CCP’s core values and the articulated institutional priorities of investment, engagement, and access. The Senior Archivist must set and communicate priorities for the department and execute strategies relating to the goals in the CCP’s Strategic Action Plan.

The position is responsible for overseeing the archive’s daily operations, assessing and creating deliverables for staff to ensure maximum efficiency, and balancing major functions of the archive to meet CCP needs. The Senior Archivist will assess and improve departmental programs, services, policies, and processes to ensure better collection development, technical preservation, access services, user services, outreach, digital initiatives and donor relations. The position will work closely with the CCP Chief Curator, Associate Curator for Academic and Public Programs, Senior Conservator, and other colleagues to identify synergies and create practices that enhance the Center’s ability to be top in class. The Senior Archivist will collaborate with staff to curate and prepare CCP-focused content for a variety of outlets including social media and websites. This is a supervisory position with responsibilities for mentoring staff to achieve excellence in their professional roles. The individual in this role must have demonstrated leadership and analytical skills, creative and innovative problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to service excellence. Evidence of success in strategic planning and collaboration in complex environments is essential. The Senior Archivist should identify as a change agent, be comfortable with ambiguity, bring solution oriented and creative thinking to all projects, be empathic, creative, and generative.
