Description:
Dynamic, bright, energetic City Library in beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida seeks Reference Librarian to join our growing team. Must love emerging technologies, providing stellar customer service, and collaborating with coworkers to create one-of-a-kind experiences for patrons.
As a Reference Librarian, you are the face of Adult Services at our beautiful, expansive 4th floor reading room. You educate and inspire our patrons by answering reference questions, educating on technology, and providing excellent readers’ advisory service, in person, on the phone, and by email. You are enthusiastic and creative and enjoy taking on new projects as they come along.

This position as Reference Librarian provides reference and reader’s advisory for the general public, provides general customer service, works on projects as assigned to promote an interactive educational experience including collections, technology, and programs; and performs related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited program of study with two (2) years related experience in a field such as teaching, recreation, social work, book sales or related field.
A valid Florida Driver’s license, required. A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver’s license within 30 days from day of appointment.
Alternate requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and the ability to complete the Master’s degree in Library Sciences (MLS) within six (6) months from the date of employment, and three (3) years related experience in a field such as teaching, recreation, social work, or book sales, or related field.
Driving Requirement:
Have not lost any driving privileges by reason of revocation, suspension, or denial of license, or have been convicted and/or had an adjudication withheld of three or more moving violations or have had one DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in any preceding twenty-four (24) month period.
License suspensions of two weeks or less that have been cleared will not automatically result in revocation of driving privileges.
