Film Handling and Inspection Workshop

By IS Lab March 10, 2020

Have you ever wanted to know how to handle film?

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of film handling. Participants will first learn the properties of film, proper film storage techniques, and signs of film decay and damage before gaining hands-on experience handling and inspecting films of various formats held in the IS Lab’s collection. The goal of this workshop is to provide a basic introduction into working with film collections in archives, libraries, and museums and to allow participants to use the IS Lab’s film collection and film tools in the future. No previous film handling experience is required.

Please join us at 12:30pm on February 19th in Zone A of the IS Lab!

*Because the training is only one hour long and all participants may not be able to gain much time using the film equipment, one-on-one appointments with lab staff will be available throughout the week for further training and hands-on instruction.
