The Huntington Library seeks a knowledgeable and collaborative colleague to catalog rare materials selected for digitization, with an emphasis on early printed books and manuscripts including but not limited to the history of medicine and allied sciences, as part of a three-year initiative with a possibility of extension. Working as part of the Acquisitions, Cataloging and Metadata Services team (ACMe), the Project Cataloger creates and enhances MARC records for the Library’s online catalog according to current national standards and best practices and creates and transforms metadata for items selected for digitization. The Cataloger contributes to the formulation and documentation of rare materials cataloging policies and procedures and the design of productive workflows. This position reports to the Early Books and Codices Cataloging Manager. Applications received before October 16, 2020 will be given first consideration.
