GIS Intern

Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is currently in the lookout for a full-time GIS Intern to assist in the mapping efforts of various company departments, from biology to archeology. The GIS Intern will aide GIS personnel in the analysis and production of spatial/non-spatial data, GIS data capture, geospatial databases, and the extensive application of ArcGIS, while mentored by one or more members of the GIS department.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Spatial analysis, GIS data capture, conversion, maintenance & documentation.
  • Staff GIS assistance.
  • Update and maintain graphic files.
  • Training database design & maintenance cartographic design.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and/or respond to client phone calls, emails, or other communications.

Requirements

  • Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or closely related field, or exhibit equivalent experience. Master’s degree and certifications a PLUS.
  • Fundamental grasp of ArcGIS desktop tools: ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo, etc.
  • Understanding of map projections, systems coordination, queries, geodatabases, ArcGIS spatial analysis.
  • Capacity to maintain metadata using ArcGIS software.
  • Work effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to excel in a teamwork-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills to deliver results in a timely manner.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.

GIS Analyst


Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time GIS Analyst to join a team of analysts that supports the mapping efforts of a multidisciplinary arrangement of departments. The GIS Analyst will be responsible for GIS data capture, analysis and production of spatial/non-spatial data, management of geospatial databases, and the extensive application of ArcGIS.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Staff GIS assistance.
  • GIS data capture, conversion, maintenance & documentation.
  • Maintain geospatial databases.
  • Conduct spatial analysis.
  • Produce, update, and maintain cartographic outputs and graphic files.
  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary arrangement of departments to ensure GIS support is conducted on-time and within the required budget.
  • Maintain KPS and resume and tailor to specific proposals as needed.
  • Use cost backup spread sheets and marketing templates to develop and understand project budgets and scopes of work.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and/or respond to client phone calls, emails, or other communications. Identify potential clients and new opportunities with existing clients; help to develop GIS marketing materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or closely related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications a PLUS.
  • 1+ years of professional work experience in the field of GIS.
  • Solid grasp of ArcGIS desktop tools: ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo, etc. ArcGIS Pro a PLUS.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS online and associated mobile applications.
  • Solid grasp of GPSs: Garmin and Trimble units, and associated software.
  • Competency on map projections, systems coordination, queries, geodatabases, ArcGIS spatial analysis.
  • Capacity to maintain metadata using ArcGIS software.
  • Ability to sustain project management tasks in coordination with client objectives and internal procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Python or a high-level general-purposed programming language.
  • Working knowledge of standardized query language (SQL)
  • Work effectively under minimal supervision.

Controller

Sapphos Environmental In is looking for an experienced Controller that can oversee and handle all accounting and finance operations of the Company to include financial reporting and month-end close. This position requires multi-tasking, preparation of financial statements, cash flow analysis, reconciliations, forecasting, oversight and direction of Company personnel and developing/monitoring standard operating procedures/internal controls. 

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual Company operating budget and forecasts
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports including monthly balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and statement of cash flows including a comparison/analysis of budget to actual results for presentation to management
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations
  • Accounting, General Ledger
  • Reconciliation of bank statements to the general ledger
  • Reconciliation of accounts payable to general ledger
  • Maintaining proper cutoff
  • Ensure vendor invoices are properly coded and filed
  • Assist in developing and maintaining inventory costing procedures
  • Inventory valuation analysis to include establishing reserves for slow moving or obsolete inventory and direct write-offs as necessary
  • Reconciliation and preparation of supporting schedules for other receivables, prepaid expenses, and other assets to the general ledger
  • Maintenance of fixed asset schedule and calculation and posting of depreciation expense
  • Reconciliation and preparation of supporting schedules for all accrued expenses outside of accounts payable
  • Reconciliation of gross profit results to general ledger
  • Administration and Operations
  • Develop and monitor inventory control procedures affecting all warehouse operations and direct physical inventories
  • Develop and monitor controls surrounding the safeguarding of assets • Manage day-to-day and monthly cashflow
  • Oversee Accounts Payable clerk and approve vendor payments
  • Oversight of payroll process
  • Responsible to file all necessary tax returns and other compliance
  • Manage accounting staff

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree, in finance or accounting
  • Minimum 7 years’ progressive experience in finance at a manufacturing company
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs with intermediate to advanced proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP setup and implementation
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Salary and Compensation

  • $87,000-$96,000 yearly (DOE)
