Under close supervision, the Library Assistant II will perform routine and less complex library duties according to established written procedures and methods. Typical duties may include the following: Assist patrons at the Reference Desk (both in person and through virtual chat) in answering routine informational questions, referring more difficult or technical questions to appropriate library staff; complete requests for materials in the collection; perform loose-leaf filing;  assist with the weekly deposit; processing of books; assist with the creation of physical and virtual library thematic displays; assist in the collection of library data necessary for reporting purposes; inventory and order supplies; maintain library office equipment in proper working order, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions that require only minor repairs and adjustments; and other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of library or clerical experience which included providing customer service; or six months of experience as a Library Assistant I OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Preferred Experience:
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience editing web pages using a WYSIWYG page editor.
