Dignity Health operates six hospitals in the Greater Sacramento Service Area – Mercy General Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Folsom, Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and Woodland Memorial Hospital; as well as Mercy Home Health and Hospice, and Dignity Health Medical Foundation, which includes Mercy Medical Group, Woodland Clinic and Mercy Imaging Centers. This position is remote and will support the Dignity Health Greater Sacramento Division Library virtually.  Services for all facilities within the Greater Sacramento Division, as well as Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA and Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA.

Provides prompt and accurate library services to physicians and all hospital employees in support of their educational, clinical, administrative, and research-related information needs. Maintains the operation of the virtual medical library including, selection and processing of library materials, analysis of library usage data, and provision of reference, dissemination, and interlibrary loan services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Science or Library Information Science from an ALA accredited program
Two (2) years of library experience, preferably in a hospital or health sciences setting
Experience providing expert search assistance using PubMed, facilitating document delivery, and maintaining interlibrary loan services
Working knowledge of online databases, ebooks, and online journals
Familiarity with the principles of evidence-based practice
Comfortable working remotely and familiarity with using Zoom and Google Workspace.
Ability to provide quality customer service virtually and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
Excellent attention to detail, time management, reliability, and strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals
Working knowledge of biomedical databases like CINAHL, ClinicalKey, Cochrane Library, and UpToDate. Experience providing remote instruction or consultations to library users.
