Archives Supervisor – Louisiana State Archives

The Louisiana State Archives is seeking to fill two Archives Supervisor positions – an experienced digital archivist to oversee the operations of the Imaging and Preservation Services section and a records management professional to oversee the daily operations of the State Records Center and the Records Management section.  

SUPERVISOR – IMAGING AND PRESERVATION SERVICES
Incumbent oversees the daily operations of the Records Program’s Digital Imaging and Preservation Services section at the Louisiana State Archives. Supervision is exercised over professional and clerical staff of this section.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in library science, archival administration, or information technology.
  • Digital Archivist, Certified Archivist, or Certified Records Manager designation desirable.
  • Three years professional experience managing electronic records or digital content.
  • Professional experience in conversion services including: analog, microfilm, and digital processes.
  • Working knowledge of state governmental organizational structures, operations, and functions.
  • Professional level experience in appraisal of electronic archival records.
  • Experience in the application of automated information management systems to library, archival, records management, or business problems.
  • Experience providing consultative services on electronic records preservation or transfer.

SUPERVISOR – RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Incumbent oversees the daily operations of the Records Program’s Archives Records Center and Record Retention sections of the Louisiana State Archives. Supervision is exercised over professional and clerical staff of these sections.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Records Manager
  • Master’s degree in library science, archival administration, public administration, or information technology.
  • Three years professional experience managing records analog and digital content.
  • Working knowledge of Louisiana State governmental organizational structures, operations, and functions.
  • Experience in the application of automated information management systems to library, archival, records management, or business problems.
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures for a records program including workflows for both preservation and proper disposal.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to learning and working with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with government records.
  • Supervisory experience.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in historical research;
  • archival operations, records management and records preservation;
  • or college level teaching in history, political science, philosophy, anthropology, historical geography, archaeology, social studies/social studies education, American studies, Latin American studies, European studies, international studies, international relations, English, French, Spanish or fine arts;
  • or professional level experience in a public sector setting.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field will substitute for the required baccalaureate degree.
