Access Services Associate – Mid Shift Supervisor, Library, #56026

Job Description or Duties

Reports to the Circulation Manager. Provides coverage for the Circulation area, checking in/out library material, answering phones/transferring calls, collecting fines. Works with student and community patrons by responding to requests for assistance in a fast-paced environment. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Assists with implementing emergency procedures. Manages aesthetic appearance of the building. Supervises student workers. Utilizes automated library system and a variety of other computerized databases and software. Opens and secures the building. This is either a 9-month position working 40 hours per week with 3 months Unpaid Leave of Absence; OR a 12-month .75 FTE position working 30 hours per week. Additional information on the schedule is available on-line. The choice of schedule will be given to the successful candidate.

  • Supervises Library front desk.
  • Assists patrons with locating materials and check-in/check-out, and the use of electronic resources.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues for printers, computers, photocopiers, micro-copiers, scanners and One-Button-Studio.
  • Reports equipment issues to Circulation Manager.
  • Assigns student worker tasks.
  • Answers phone and transfers calls.
  • Allocates space in Library of Congress Collection. Supervises adding shelving and shifting of materials.
  • Assists with training student workers.
  • Assist with maintaining staff and student training manuals.
  • Works with Interlibrary Loan staff in processing borrowed items.
  • Opens and closes Library as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Circulation Manager.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree. Detail oriented. Excellent communications skills (written and verbal). Technology oriented with experience in Microsoft applications, Adobe products, and troubleshooting equipment issues. Must be able to work collaboratively. Must learn quickly and retain well. Must be able to work specified work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

Library experience. Supervisory experience. Circulation experience. Public Service experience. Conversational skills in a second language.

Start Date:  November 1, 2020 or earlier

Salary:  $18,750
