The LGBTQ Religious Archives Network (LGBTQ-RAN) is offering up to three three-month (June – August 2020), part-time (10 hours a week), online internships for students or graduates seeking to develop skills in preserving and studying LGBTQ religious history.

This intern will create educational resources (discussion questions and individual or group projects) for instructors using LGBTQ-RAN’s online exhibitions in the classroom.
This intern will research protocols and standards for preserving an organization’s or individual’s digital records (communications, writings, blogs, websites). As a model, this intern will design a plan for preserving LGBTQ-RAN’s digital records.
This intern will develop software for LGBTQ-RAN’s Omeka website, including custom themes and plugins.

In addition, an intern may engage in other LGBTQ-RAN projects which could include researching and writing biographical profiles, conducting oral history interviews, or researching LGBTQ religious collections.

Interns will participate in LGBTQ-RAN staff meetings via videoconference every 2-3 weeks. Interns will provide own office and equipment needed to carry out their work. Each intern will receive a stipend of $300 per month.

The LGBTQ Religious Archives Network ( is an innovative venture in preserving history and encouraging scholarly study of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) religious movements around the world. LGBTQ-RAN has a two-fold basic purpose. First it assists LGBTQ religious leaders and groups in determining how best to preserve their records and papers in appropriate repositories. Secondly, LGBTQ-RAN provides an electronic information clearinghouse for these archival collections and other historical data—such as biographical profiles, oral histories and digital exhibitions—about LGBTQ religious history for the use of historians, researchers and other interested persons.
