Vinegar Syndrome

Learn how to recognize vinegar syndrome in acetate film.

When improperly stored, acetate film will discolor, giving the film a pinkish hue. Acetate film also shrinks, loses flexibility, curls, and warps as it decays.

A-D Strips are used to determine the state of the film on a scale from no deterioration to critical deterioration.

Blue= no deterioration  Light Green= actively deteriorating  Yellow= Critical condition
